Learning to be Limitless: Part 3

Tuesday May 25, 2021 – Limitless Motivation: The Why

Reviewing Jim Kwik’s  “Limitless” book in Four Parts Using Unofficial Workbook

Welcome to my Reading Tuesday’s B.R.E.A.T.H.S. blog. The last few weeks I reviewed part one and part two of Jim Kwik’s “Limitless” book using an unofficial workbook. The workbook is written in four parts, so I will cover one part each week giving my personal insights on becoming limitless by reflecting, setting goals, and taking action. Jim’s #1 message that came through to me while I first listened to his book was to teach what I learn and that is what I am here to do with this blog. Follow along the next couple weeks as I continue to dive deep into how to upgrade my brain, read faster, comprehend more, and improve my memory recall.

The workbook takes the 15 chapters of the “Limitless” book and breaks it down into four parts:

PART 1 – Free Your Mind (Chapters 1 – 4)

PART 2 – Limitless Mindset: The What (Chapters 5 & 6)

PART 3 – Limitless Motivation: The Why (Chapters 7 – 10)

PART 4 – Limitless Methods: The How (Chapters 11 – 15)

Each of the four parts breaks down the chapters for the reader by including:

  • Summary of the chapter
  • The author’s takeaway
  • Points for reflection
  • Goals
  • Action steps

Today, I will be discussing my findings from Part 3 – Limitless Motivation: The Why,  that integrates chapters seven through ten covering my personal thoughts on: points for reflection, goals, and action steps.

Chapter 7: Purpose

*CHAPTER 7 – POINTS FOR REFLECTION:

  • Evaluate the situation you are in right now. Why are you doing what you are doing?
    • I am starting my new authoring career while traveling all over the United States. When I need to take a break from driving, I stay with family, get some work done, recuperate, and plan for my next adventure. Currently, I am stopped and this month I have stretched myself pretty far with starting a new website/blog, creating my first videos, editing, creating movies, and uploading into YouTube. I feel like I am on the right track to getting my new career off the ground. Next month, I will be writing my first book proposal!
  • What is the difference between passion and purpose? How are they interrelated?
    • I feel purpose is what we are meant to do on this earth. Passion comes when we are fulfilling our purpose. When we are not on the right path to our purpose, this is where we have lost passion and are susceptible to illness and disease.
  • Why do you think having a clear purpose is important to your journey to becoming limitless?
    • My purpose is my WHY, why I am here, why I am working hard, why I am staying on the path so that I can continue to be filled with passion.

*CHAPTER 7 – GOALS:

  • What are you passionate about?
    • I am very passionate about municipal education, a new way to teach, learn, and educate every human in a surrounding community.
  • What is your purpose?
    • My purpose is to educate others about how to create municipal education in their communities.

*CHAPTER 7 – ACTION STEPS:

  • Who Are You? The goal is to be conscious of who you really are. Identify your traits and qualities, even the things you want to create or establish. Start with I AM.
    • I am love
    • I am healthy
    • I am a famous author
    • I am changing our education system
    • I am a lifelong learner
    • I am an artist
    • I am a world traveler
    • I am an entrepreneur
  • Ask Why. Get into the habit of asking the deeper why. Why are you doing what you are doing?
    • I am doing what I am doing because I was born with a very specific purpose to fulfill.

Chapter 8: Energy

*CHAPTER 8 – POINTS FOR REFLECTION:

  • Do you find yourself lacking sleep because you are busy? How does it affect your productivity?
    • Actually, it’s the opposite for me. My disability causes fatigue so I am often tired and oversleep. This, too, affects my productivity.
  • What exactly happens every time you don’t get enough sleep?
    • Well, when I get too much sleep as I noted above, I push priorities back and things start to pile up.
    • I get more anxiety, more illness, more disease.
  • How can meditation help in your limitless journey?
    • I have been using meditation, trying to find the best for me which is either laying down with my eyes closed, or standing in a shower. The meditation helps me to be in the present. I don’t think about the past and get depressed, I don’t think about the future and get anxiety, I just be. I ask different parts of my body what is bothering it. I usually feel great afterwards.

*CHAPTER 8 – GOALS:

  • What kind of food should you include in your diet to benefit your health?
    • Jim Kwik suggests “brain food” such as: avocados, blueberries, broccoli, dark chocolate, eggs, green leafy veggies, fish (salmon, sardines, caviar), turmeric, walnuts, and water.
  • What would be your next steps in ensuring that you are taking care of your brain health?
    • Proper sleep time, brain foods, practice Kwik Reading, and exercise.

*CHAPTER 8 – ACTION STEPS:

  • Meditate: incorporate at least a 10-15 minute daily meditation in your routine to improve your mind power.
  • Plan: establish a schedule and incorporate new activities into your calendar.
  • Sleep: it is vital that you get a decent amount of sleep (not too much).
  • Do Not Cram: practice the Pomodoro Technique instead (25 min read, 5 min break).

Chapter 9: Small Simple Steps

*CHAPTER 9 – POINTS FOR REFLECTION:

  • How has procrastination affected your experiences?
    • Things pile up and I get anxious
  • Is there something you’re feeling stuck with at the moment that you want to conquer?
    • Actually, no, because I am continuing to get unstuck by trying the things over again that I am not good at (blogging, making videos).
    • The only thing I am working on but not as successful as I would like is my daily routine. It is a work in progress, but I am not stuck.
  • When do you usually experience procrastination?
    • I usually put things off that I do not know how to do or don’t like to do, such as making videos/movies.

*CHAPTER 9 GOALS:

  • How will you apply the simple baby steps to your dilemma?
    • Building habits by practicing every day for at least 21 days.
    • Keep trying, don’t give up.
    • Ask for help.
  • Why do you think Jim Kwik’s D.R.E.A.M.S. is important for your journey to being limitless? How would you apply this to your journey?
    • D – Decide – before bed state that I am going to consciously decide to remember my dreams
    • R – Record – keep a record of my dreams
    • E – Eyes – do not open eyes when remembering dreams
    • A – Affirm – affirm with myself I will remember the dreams when I wake
    • M – Manage – establish good routines to help me better manage
    • S – Share – share dreams to improve memory
    • I think remembering our dreams that happen subconsciously will help us consciously remember things better. I have been practicing this and I can hear myself say while dreaming, “remember this dream.” So, I know this process is working.

*CHAPTER 9 ACTION STEPS:

  • In every task, always remember your deeper: WHY
  • Apply the D.R.E.A.M.S. to your journey towards being limitless and observe the difference.

Chapter 10: Flow

*CHAPTER 10 POINTS FOR REFLECTION:

  • What keeps you from achieving your flow?
    • For me it’s the pain from my disability that cause fatigue, brain fog, lack of motivation, and basically out of the flow.
  • Can you recall a time in your life when you experimented being in the flow? How did it go?
    • Actually, I get in the flow when I have a big task to complete. It may take me a few tries, but once I get started, I usually finish all my goals.

*CHAPTER 10 GOALS:

  • What should you do to practice achieving flow?
    • Eliminate distractions
    • Give myself enough time
    • Do something I love
    • Have clear goals
    • Challenge myself a little
    • Beware of flow villains
  • What are your ways of eliminating distractions
    • Going to a quiet workspace
    • Hiding my phone
    • Being ready with all I need to complete a task
    • Planning

*CHAPTER 10 ACTION STEPS:

  • Create a Space: where I won’t get distracted, no mobile phones or anything that will interrupt my flow.

  1. I’m really fascinated by the idea of a municipal education and of teaching all humans. I live in a society in which older people are almost considered unteachable so it’s nice to see that negative attitude rejected.

    1. Alice Gerard, Thank you for the comment on municipal education, I am writing a book to get the information out there. I really believe in lifelong education for all and think we can build a healthy system that works for each and every member in our community.

  2. Once again you’ve intrigued me to read this book. I have a pile of books I’m looking to get through. This one is on the list. I love your thoughtful answers here about yourself as well!

    1. Hi Karin, I am happy this book keeps popping up for you. It kept appearing to me in different formats so I finally picked it up and I am glad it did. It will help me get through the huge pile of other books a lot faster now that I have read the book several times, reviewed it with a workbook, signed up for the 21 day speed reading challenge, and even participated in a week long Kwik Learning seminar.

  3. I am glad I read your blog today as I have not heard of this book. I do have a stack of books and I read them sometimes 2 at a time. This one is on my list. Thank you for sharing.
